Over a Century of Success
Federated Insurance was founded in 1904 by a group of business owners seeking better value for their premium dollar.
In its early years, the company built a strong reputation for fair claims handling and a commitment to risk management practices. Soon the organization was providing property coverage for equipment dealers, auto dealers, petroleum marketers, and contractors throughout the Midwest.
During the mid-20th century, Federated Insurance became one on the nation's first multiline insurance companies by expanding into the liability market.
In subsequent years, the company began offering life insurance, workers compensation coverage, group health insurance, estate planning services, and a variety of risk management tools.
Towards the end of the 20th century, Federated had established a national presence and was one of the largest commercial mutual insurance companies in the nation.
Today, employees are committed to delivering tangible value, building face-to-face relationships, and maintaining financial strength to fulfill policyholder obligations. A direct distribution system, hundreds of national and state trade association recommendations, and industry-specific coverages help Federated Insurance remain the insurer of choice for businesses across the country.
“As a mutual insurance company, we believe our value is measured by the success of our clients. It’s our business to protect yours.”
