The Federated Challenge was formed in 2004 and has raised nearly $35 million to support the youth mentoring and educational programs of the Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies in Minnesota and most recently, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
This event not only benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters, it also helps endow the Federated Challenge Scholarship Program, which provides financial support to “Littles” pursuing degrees at two-year trade and technical colleges.
Federated’s employees also support this important cause. The Federated Insurance Employees Club organizes an annual 5K run to support the Challenge, and the Federated Employees Credit Union donates a token amount for every loan taken out during the year. Many employees themselves are Bigs, and close to 100 employees plan and participate in the Federated Challenge each year, all to help give back tour youth.
We are also passionate in supporting the United Way. Since 2007, Federated employees across the country have donated $3.1 million to their local United Way organizations.
In addition, we offer a gift matching program to our employees with the opportunity to direct corporate charitable dollars to qualifying non-profit organizations and higher education institutions that they personally support. In 2017, 369 employees participated and contributed more than $77,000 to non-profits across the country.
