Federated Life Insurance is a successful and vibrantly growing Life company with the need for an Actuary to support and manage our products and support capabilities for business and succession planning products. This leader will work closely with several cross-functional insurance professionals and a team of actuaries to impact our continued success in the Life and DI market.
The position requires an individual who can influence with credibility, possesses proven leadership ability, works well as a team player yet can be an independent thinker, is self-motivated, and effectively communicates ideas and strategies. Our perfect candidate will have a 10-year track record in managing products, cash flow testing, and product design as well as the ability to mentor staff.
Position Responsibilities
Provide the executive leadership group with statistical and business forecast data allowing for effective, strategic decision making regarding Life product development, pricing, and reserving for Universal Life, term insurance, Disability Income, and annuities.
Direct all financial and business trend research and analysis activities related to decision risk assessment.
Direct appropriate corporate reserving and compliant reporting practices. Ensure fulfillment of data submission to state insurance departments, or other outside agencies for rate filings and other statutory or mandatory reporting needs.
Lead the product development process utilizing actuarial data to influence product and pricing direction.
Oversee the process necessary to certify the adequacy, accuracy, and timeliness of reserve valuations, cash flow tests, and other actuarial and regulatory measurements, including federal income taxes.
Lead and supervise Life Actuarial staff.
Position Requirements
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) required
Minimum of 10 years of actuarial experience
A level of excellence in analyzing and problem solving, decision-making, project management and organizational skills
Relocation to Owatonna, MN
An understanding of multiline insurers is a plus
Permanent authorization to work in the U.S.
