To prepare you for your new career, you begin with an extensive training program where you will learn the foundational principles and practices of the commercial insurance industry, acquire our technical select risk criteria, absorb the Federated culture and establish the groundwork to become a successful field Risk Consultant.
Upon completion of the six-month training program, which is held in Owatonna MN, you will relocate to your assigned territory where you will receive additional training through our installation program. During your first two years you will work very closely with your manager and with one of our experienced Regional Risk Consultants to further prepare you for success in your new role.
Position Requirements
Temporary relocation to Owatonna MN for 6+ months of training
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university, preferably in a business or occupational safety/risk management related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
Strong written and oral communication and relationship building skills
Ability to excel in a team environment
Ability to learn and apply technical information
Strong time management and planning skills
Desire to take on additional responsibilities, especially in leadership
An acceptable driving record
Permanent authorization to work in the United States
Risk Consultant Position Responsibilities
Analyze losses and exposures to identify risk management opportunities.
Team with Underwriting and Marketing to design risk management programs that meet our clients’ needs in order to write and retain profitable business.
Develop and conduct safety programs with our commercial policyholders.
Conduct fire and safety surveys.
Prepare building evaluations using a laptop computer.
